Chicago, IL – After enduring bitter cold, northern Illinois will see another round of snow Wednesday night as temperatures start to rise. The National Weather Service forecasts light to moderate snow showers beginning late Wednesday and continuing into Thursday morning.

According to weather officials, snowfall accumulations are expected to remain under two inches but could create slippery travel conditions. With temperatures climbing into the low 20s, snow will melt on some surfaces but refreeze overnight, leading to icy patches.

The system will be accompanied by breezy conditions, potentially reducing visibility at times during the heaviest snow showers. Commuters should plan ahead for delays, especially on untreated roads and bridges.

By Thursday, temperatures will reach the mid-to-upper 20s, offering a reprieve from the extreme cold earlier in the week. However, additional snow showers could return late in the week.

Residents are encouraged to monitor the latest updates and plan accordingly as the weather shifts. For real-time forecasts, visit weather.gov.
