Visibility Drops to a Quarter Mile in Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle: Hazardous Driving Conditions Expected Christmas Morning

Amarillo, TX – Dense fog is expected to linger across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles until late Wednesday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, visibility could drop to a quarter mile or less in affected areas, including Amarillo, Canyon, and Dalhart. A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers are urged to use caution, slow down, and ensure headlights are on when traveling through the region.

The advisory covers multiple counties, including Potter, Randall, Sherman, and Cimarron in Texas, as well as Beaver and Texas counties in Oklahoma. The National Weather Service also noted a potential for icy conditions in northwest Oklahoma, where temperatures are expected to dip below freezing early Christmas morning.
