Aberdeen, SD — A dense fog advisory remains in effect across much of South Dakota and North Dakota until noon Wednesday, potentially disrupting holiday travel. Visibility in some areas is reduced to a quarter mile or less.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), affected areas include Aberdeen, Watertown, Sioux Falls, and Pierre in South Dakota, as well as Bismarck and Fargo in North Dakota. Low visibility combined with light frost on roads could lead to hazardous driving conditions.
The NWS advises drivers to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. Frosty patches may create slick spots, especially on untreated surfaces.
The advisory coincides with increased holiday travel, prompting local authorities to urge caution.
The fog is expected to dissipate by midday Wednesday as temperatures rise. However, drivers should remain vigilant, particularly in rural areas where conditions may linger.
