According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Blacksburg, a wind advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. for central, southwest, and west-central Virginia. Winds are expected to range from 15 to 25 mph, with stronger gusts impacting higher elevations and open areas. The gusty conditions may cause minor damage to trees, potentially leading to power outages.

Thursday will bring mostly sunny skies with a high of 54°F, but calmer winds are expected in the afternoon. Rain moves in Thursday night, continuing into Friday, with a 100% chance of precipitation and possible thunderstorms.

The weekend outlook improves, with mostly sunny conditions Saturday and Sunday, though temperatures will remain cooler, with highs in the upper 40s.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles should use caution, especially along I-81 and Route 460, where strong crosswinds could make travel hazardous.
