Richmond, VA – A Flood Watch is in effect from 2 a.m. Friday through Friday evening for central Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley, and portions of northwest and western Virginia. Heavy rainfall may lead to excessive flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory will also be active from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday for elevations above 3,000 feet along the Blue Ridge Mountains and Alleghenies. Areas included in the Flood Watch span Albemarle, Greene, and Nelson counties, as well as parts of central and northwest Virginia.
The Wind Advisory will affect Central Virginia’s Blue Ridge, Western Highland County, and parts of West Virginia. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and prepare for potential flooding, particularly those in high-risk zones. Emergency services are on alert, and citizens should avoid travel in affected areas where flash flooding is possible.
