Annandale, VA – After weeks of icy conditions, Virginia residents can look forward to warmer weather this weekend as a “weekend thaw” sets in. Temperatures are expected to climb steadily, with highs reaching the upper 40s to low 50s by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will remain chilly but sunny, with highs near 33 degrees and lows dropping to the mid-teens overnight. By Saturday, temperatures will rise into the upper 30s and low 40s, with mostly sunny skies making for a pleasant day.

Sunday continues the warming trend with highs around 43 degrees, though clouds are expected to increase later in the day. Monday will bring the peak of the thaw, with sunny skies and highs nearing 50 degrees across the region, creating ideal conditions for outdoor activities. Lows Monday night will hover around 31 degrees.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions for icy patches that may remain on roadways early in the weekend, especially during overnight hours. For drivers, key routes such as I-495 and Route 50 may still experience freezing conditions during the early morning hours.

The extended forecast predicts temperatures near 47 degrees on Tuesday, keeping the region above freezing for much of next week. Residents are urged to enjoy the milder conditions while staying alert for potential slick spots during early hours.
