According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, with wind damage the primary concern. Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Ocean View early Monday morning, prompting a special statement for Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

Expect delays and hazards along I-264 and Route 60, especially near Ocean View and Bayside. High-profile vehicles may face handling issues during peak gusts. Residents should secure outdoor items and prepare for possible spotty power outages. If you’re outside during a storm, seek immediate shelter in a sturdy building.

By Tuesday night, showers and a few thunderstorms could return, especially between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Wednesday. Winds will shift southwest at 6 mph overnight, keeping the air humid and unstable.

Wednesday marks a return to calmer skies, with mostly sunny conditions and a high near 81°F. However, more rain chances emerge late in the week.
