Blacksburg, VA – An unseasonably warm weekend is underway across Virginia, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s in several regions, including Blacksburg and the Piedmont. Forecasters say the unusual warmth will persist through late Monday before any chance of rain arrives.

According to the US National Weather Service in Blacksburg, Saturday temperatures are expected to peak between 76-85°F in the mountains and 85-89°F in the Piedmont. Sunday will bring increasing cloud cover, but highs will still range from 73-81°F in the mountains and 81-85°F in the Piedmont. A 30% chance of afternoon showers is expected Monday, with temperatures slightly cooler but still above average.

This spike in warmth comes well ahead of the typical late-April conditions, when highs usually linger in the upper 60s to low 70s. Officials recommend staying hydrated, limiting strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, and checking on vulnerable individuals.

No severe weather is currently expected, but the approaching moisture Monday could signal a shift toward more seasonable patterns midweek. Residents should monitor local forecasts for updates, especially if planning outdoor activities.
