Blacksburg, VA – A wet weather system is expected to bring rain to Blacksburg on Sunday, extending into early Monday, Veterans Day. Commuters on Route 460 and residents in surrounding areas should prepare for slippery roads and reduced visibility. Although rainfall amounts are not expected to be heavy, the National Weather Service forecasts scattered showers that could accumulate up to 0.25 inches, primarily over mountainous areas.

According to the National Weather Service Blacksburg office, Sunday’s showers will be scattered, with more consistent rain closer to the West Virginia border. Temperatures will range from the mid-50s to lower 60s, and winds will shift slightly from the south, bringing moist air to the region. By Sunday night, rain will likely intensify, accompanied by gusts of up to 21 mph. Those planning to travel should check local weather updates and drive cautiously due to possible wet roads and gusty winds.

Looking ahead, Veterans Day will bring a shift in the weather, with skies clearing and temperatures rising to around 68 degrees by midday Monday. This pleasant weather is expected to hold through much of next week. On Tuesday, residents can look forward to sunny skies and a high of 63, followed by mostly clear conditions and a low of 36 on Tuesday night. Temperatures will drop slightly midweek, with a high of 58 expected on Wednesday and mostly sunny skies continuing.

Be sure to stay updated on changing weather conditions and take precautions if traveling on Sunday, especially during periods of intensified rain. Keep an eye on road conditions and stay informed of any potential hazards along major routes.
