According to the National Weather Service, rain and thunderstorms will develop between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. tonight, with an 80% chance of precipitation. Temperatures will peak in the upper 50s before dropping into the low 40s overnight. Winds could gust up to 23 mph in the evening, and severe gusts north of I-64 may reach higher speeds, creating localized hazards.
New Year’s Day is expected to bring cooler, breezy weather with a high near 48 degrees and gusts up to 40 mph. The evening will see temperatures drop to the low 30s under mostly clear skies.
Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows sunny and dry conditions persisting through Thursday, with daytime highs in the 40s. Nighttime lows will range from the mid-20s to low 30s. A chance of snow may arrive Sunday night as temperatures dip further.
