Fairfax, VA – A flood warning remains in effect for Fairfax County until 7:15 a.m. today as excessive rainfall continues to threaten low-lying and flood-prone areas, including Annandale, Ravensworth, and Mantua. With heavy rain already reported in the area, several locations, including Woodburn Road near Accotink Creek, are likely to experience localized flooding. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads and be especially cautious in low-lying areas, especially overnight, when visibility may be reduced.

According to the National Weather Service, flooding has been reported across the region, with up to 1.5 inches of rain falling in some locations since 4:14 a.m. The affected areas include not just Fairfax but also portions of northern Virginia. Given the heavy rainfall, drivers are advised to avoid travel near known flood zones and to turn around if encountering flooded roads.
