Virginia – Residents across Virginia are in for a cold and breezy spell following a recent cold front, with temperatures set to dip into the low 30s tonight. Frost is expected, particularly in the interior coastal plains and the Piedmont region, signaling a chilly wake-up on Wednesday morning. Those with sensitive plants or outdoor preparations should take precautions tonight as frost is likely to affect much of the area.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, today’s highs will reach around 57 degrees under sunny skies, but by nighttime, temperatures will fall sharply to around 32 degrees in many areas, including along major routes like Route 60. This frost warning remains particularly relevant for residents in areas around Richmond, Farmville, and Williamsburg, where early morning temperatures could be harshest.

Wednesday will see daytime highs barely hitting the low 50s, with sunny but breezy conditions persisting. Winds are expected from the northwest at 11 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 24 mph, contributing to a brisk feel across the region. By Wednesday night, temperatures will again fall to the mid-30s under mostly cloudy skies, potentially bringing another round of frost in rural areas.

Looking ahead, Thursday brings a chance of showers with a high near 51, as low pressure moves into the region. Nighttime temperatures are expected around 41 degrees, with rain persisting through Thursday night at a 50% chance. The weather should clear by Friday, bringing partly sunny skies and a high near 56, making it a calmer end to the workweek. Temperatures are expected to reach the 60s by the weekend, giving a brief respite from the midweek chill.
