Richmond, Va. – Cloudy skies and cooler temperatures are settling over Virginia today as a backdoor cold front pushes through the region, capping highs in the 70s and low 80s across much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, the cooler air began filtering in Sunday morning and will keep conditions mostly stable through Monday. Highs will struggle to rise much in places like Norfolk (77°F), Williamsburg (78°F), and Accomac (73°F), while areas farther inland like Richmond and Petersburg may still reach the low 80s.

While areas south and west, such as Emporia (84°F) and Windsor (86°F), may remain warmer, residents across eastern and central Virginia should expect partly to mostly cloudy skies through the day. Temperatures along the Eastern Shore are expected to stay near their morning levels due to the cooler marine air.

Travel and outdoor plans should be fine Sunday, but conditions could change by Tuesday when a round of showers and scattered thunderstorms is expected to return. Residents are advised to check for updates Monday night as storm chances increase statewide.
