Virginia – A crisp ocean breeze slides across Virginia Beach this morning as pale sunlight glints off the Atlantic. Temperatures sit near 33 degrees, but the calm coastal start will quickly shift toward a much warmer and wetter pattern heading into Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, sunshine dominates much of the day across Hampton Roads. Temperatures climb toward 53 degrees while south winds strengthen between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts approaching 28 mph along the coast.

Skies remain mostly clear tonight across Virginia Beach, Norfolk, and Chesapeake. Lows settle near 48 degrees, setting the stage for a mild start to the weekend.

Saturday continues the warming trend. Mostly sunny skies push afternoon temperatures close to 60 degrees, bringing the first real hints of spring along the coast. Winds remain light through the afternoon.

By Sunday, moisture begins moving inland from the Atlantic. Clouds increase through the day with temperatures rising near 62 degrees. A few scattered showers may develop after the afternoon hours.

Meteorologists are now tracking a stronger coastal system approaching late Sunday evening.

Rain becomes more widespread after dark Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms may develop across Hampton Roads, including Virginia Beach Boulevard, I-264, and I-64 travel corridors. Wet pavement and brief visibility drops are possible during evening travel.

The wet pattern strengthens Monday. Showers become likely across southeast Virginia with temperatures climbing toward 70 degrees, one of the warmest readings so far this March.

Some storms may bring brief downpours before cooler air pushes back toward the region Monday night.

By Tuesday, scattered showers may linger early before skies gradually clear and sunshine returns to the coast.
