Virginia residents can expect a warm stretch of spring weather this week, with sunshine dominating through Thursday before rain arrives by the weekend. Highs will reach the low 70s in Annandale and Blacksburg, bringing ideal outdoor conditions before an unsettled pattern develops.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny, with highs of 71°F in Annandale and 68°F in Blacksburg. Winds will remain light, though a shift to the south may bring a slight increase in breeze Wednesday afternoon. Overnight lows will dip into the low 40s, keeping conditions mild.

Thursday will stay partly sunny, holding onto the spring-like warmth with highs again in the low 70s. By Friday evening, clouds will increase, with a 30% chance of showers developing overnight. The weekend forecast points to a higher likelihood of rain, with Saturday seeing a 60% chance of showers in Blacksburg and a 50% chance in Annandale. Sunday is expected to be even wetter, with rain chances climbing to 90% statewide.

Travelers should be aware of slick roads over the weekend, especially on I-81 near Blacksburg and Route 50 near Annandale. While no severe weather is expected, residents planning outdoor activities should prepare for wet conditions.

Looking ahead to next week, temperatures will cool slightly, with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s by Monday. Sunny conditions should return, bringing a more stable spring pattern to the region.
