Wakefield, VA – Residents across central and eastern Virginia can expect one last warm day Tuesday before a major weather shift midweek. Highs will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s today, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield. Increasing clouds will move in by late afternoon ahead of a cold front.

According to the NWS forecast, widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely Wednesday as the front crosses the region. Temperatures will fall sharply behind the system, with highs in the low 70s inland and overnight lows dropping into the 40s. Coastal areas could see lows in the low 50s.

By Thursday, the weather will turn much cooler, drier, and mostly sunny, marking a noticeable seasonal shift. Highs are expected in the low to mid-60s with crisp, fall-like air across much of Virginia.

Looking ahead, forecasters note that a coastal low-pressure system could form over the weekend, potentially bringing rain and breezy conditions, particularly along the Virginia coast.

Motorists should be prepared for wet roads Wednesday, and residents are encouraged to monitor local updates for potential changes in weekend conditions.
