Annandale, VA – Virginia residents should prepare for a turbulent weather week as high winds, rain, and snow impact the region. A High Wind Warning is in effect Sunday, with gusts reaching 60 mph, followed by dropping temperatures and snow chances midweek.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS)Sunday’s forecast includes rain, fog, and potential thunderstorms, with temperatures reaching 61°F before a sharp cooldown. Winds from the south at 10 to 16 mph will shift westward, intensifying in the afternoon with gusts up to 55 mph. Residents should expect hazardous travel conditions and possible power outages.

Monday (Washington’s Birthday) brings sunshine but cold air, with a high near 39°F and strong winds continuing. Overnight, temperatures will plummet to 23°F.

By midweek, the cold intensifies, and snow chances increase. Tuesday night sees lows around 19°F, with Wednesday bringing a 60% chance of accumulating snow. Another round of snow is likely Wednesday night into Thursday morning, potentially impacting commutes.

Residents should secure outdoor items, prepare for power disruptions, and monitor forecasts for updates. Wind chills could make temperatures feel significantly colder, so dressing in layers is advised.
