Blacksburg, VA – A cold front moving through Blacksburg is expected to bring scattered thunderstorms and much-needed rain late tonight, easing drought conditions in parts of Virginia. The National Weather Service has forecasted heavy rain between 0.5 and 1 inch, particularly in areas along Route 460.

According to the National Weather Service’s forecast, showers will develop this evening and continue into Tuesday, bringing widespread rain to western counties currently facing severe drought. Residents in Blacksburg and surrounding areas, especially along key roads like Route 460, should prepare for wet road conditions and possible delays during Tuesday’s morning commute.

Tuesday will see a high of 74 degrees, with rain continuing throughout the day. Conditions will clear slightly by Wednesday, with temperatures expected to climb into the high 70s later in the week. However, scattered showers will persist through the end of the workweek, with additional rainfall expected on Thursday and Friday.
