Baltimore, MD – The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for parts of Virginia and West Virginia, warning of dangerously low wind chills that could lead to hypothermia. The advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, areas including Western Highland County, VA, and Western Pendleton and Grant Counties, WV, are expected to experience wind chills as low as 15 degrees below zero in some regions and 12 degrees below in others.

Residents are urged to take precautions while traveling outdoors by dressing in layers and wearing hats and gloves. Prolonged exposure to these conditions can increase the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.

The advisory, extended Saturday morning, highlights the need for extra caution through the overnight hours as temperatures remain dangerously low.

Officials recommend limiting outdoor activities, ensuring proper heating indoors, and checking on vulnerable neighbors and pets.
