Burlington, VT – Vermont residents are experiencing an unseasonably cold spell this week as temperatures struggle to reach 60 degrees. According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Burlington, today’s high temperatures are expected to remain around 56 degrees, accompanied by widespread rain, with embedded heavier showers likely, particularly in Northern New York.

This cooler weather pattern is expected to persist through Thursday, with only slight warming as highs reach 67 degrees. Rain chances will decrease to 35%, but cloudy skies will continue to dominate.

By Friday, a break in the clouds is anticipated, bringing sunshine and temperatures in the mid-70s. The weekend forecast promises even warmer conditions, with highs climbing to 78 degrees on Sunday under partly cloudy skies.

However, the start of next week will see the return of scattered showers and cooler temperatures, as a new weather system moves in. Monday’s highs will struggle to reach 75 degrees with a 40% chance of rain. The extended forecast suggests that Vermont residents can expect more typical late-August weather by midweek, with temperatures returning to the upper 70s and lower 80s under mostly sunny skies.
