Burlington, VT – A winter storm is set to bring widespread snow to Vermont starting Monday evening, creating hazardous travel conditions through Tuesday afternoon. Commuters should prepare for slick roads, particularly during the Tuesday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Burlington, snowfall totals will range from 3 to 6 inches across central and northern Vermont, including areas along the I-89 corridor. The snow will begin after 8 p.m. on Monday, with the heaviest accumulation expected overnight. Temperatures will drop to a low of 17°F, and wind gusts of 16 mph will further reduce visibility.

Travelers are advised to use caution, especially on bridges and overpasses, which will likely freeze first. The NWS recommends delaying non-essential travel and staying updated on road conditions by calling 511 or checking Vermont road reports online.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will see lingering snow showers tapering off by late morning. New accumulations of less than an inch are possible, with a high of 29°F. Skies will clear Tuesday night, leading to mostly sunny weather on Christmas Day with a high of 22°F. A cold front later this week will bring lows into the single digits Wednesday night, but drier conditions are expected heading into the weekend.

Vermonters are urged to plan accordingly for holiday travel and monitor updates from local weather sources.
