According to the National Weather Service, the warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Friday for northern Vermont and parts of New York. Winds could gust up to 45 mph, causing blowing snow and low visibility. Hazardous travel conditions are expected along I-89, with slick roads and potential power outages. Snowfall will begin intensifying Thursday morning, with higher elevations, including Mt. Mansfield, seeing up to 18 inches of snow. Lowland areas, such as Burlington, are expected to receive 1 to 2 inches. Winds will peak overnight into Friday, potentially downing tree limbs and power lines.
Looking ahead, Friday will remain cold but mostly cloudy, with a high near 28°F and west winds calming slightly. Over the weekend, light snow showers may linger Saturday with highs around 18°F, before conditions clear on Sunday.
