Burlington, VT – Residents in Burlington are bracing for snowy conditions and dangerously low temperatures through the weekend, making travel hazardous. Snow showers are expected to begin later Saturday and continue into Tuesday, accompanied by gusty winds and icy roads.

According to the National Weather Service, Burlington will experience a 20% chance of snow Saturday afternoon, with west winds reaching 14 mph. Temperatures will drop to a frigid low of 14 degrees overnight, with snow showers increasing early Sunday morning. New snow accumulation is expected to be light, but winds could make visibility difficult along I-89 and surrounding routes.

Sunday brings continued cloud cover and highs around 19 degrees, with northwest gusts up to 20 mph. Bitter cold persists overnight into Monday, with lows near 7 degrees. The start of the workweek will see partly sunny skies Monday, but highs will only reach 17 degrees. Snow returns Tuesday, with blustery conditions and a high of 20 degrees.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead, as roads could be slippery due to snow and freezing winds. Local officials recommend keeping emergency kits in vehicles and avoiding unnecessary travel during the most severe conditions. Residents should prepare for bitterly cold nights by protecting pipes and ensuring outdoor pets are sheltered.

The cold snap is expected to ease slightly by Thursday, but snow showers will persist. Stay updated on changing conditions through the National Weather Service and local advisories.
