Burlington, VT – Residents across Vermont are facing dangerously cold temperatures this week, with wind chills ranging from -5°F to -15°F in most areas. Conditions are expected to last through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Burlington.

NWS warns that wind chills could reach as low as -25°F to -40°F on higher elevations, including Mount Mansfield. The coldest times will occur near sunrise each morning. These temperatures pose a risk of frostbite on exposed skin within minutes.

To stay safe, officials recommend wearing loose, layered clothing and covering exposed skin when outdoors. Those traveling should prepare for delays as frostbite risk and icy roads remain a concern.

Burlington’s daytime highs will hover between 13°F and 15°F through midweek, with nighttime lows dropping to single digits or below zero. Temperatures are expected to rise by the weekend.

For detailed updates, visit the NWS website or monitor local forecasts. Residents should take precautions and limit outdoor activity when possible.
