Burlington, VT – A cold weekend in Vermont will give way to increased snow chances and gusty winds beginning Sunday. Residents in Burlington and surrounding areas should prepare for slippery roads and bitter wind chills as temperatures remain below freezing through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday morning will bring a 30% chance of snow showers, with light accumulations possible before noon. High temperatures are forecast to reach 34°F, but strong south winds of 13-18 mph could make it feel much colder. Sunday night will see clearing skies, but lows will plummet to around 20°F, with winds shifting from west to east by midnight.
On Monday, partly sunny skies will bring a brief reprieve, though gusts of up to 28 mph will persist, driving temperatures down despite a forecasted high of 35°F. Monday night, snow showers are likely to return, with a 70% chance of accumulation across the area. Travel conditions could deteriorate further as temperatures drop to 18°F overnight.
Tuesday morning holds another 30% chance of snow showers before 1 p.m., and the high will only reach 27°F. By midweek, temperatures will continue to stay cold, with snow showers expected to intensify Wednesday afternoon into the evening. Wind chills on these days will remain in the single digits, making outdoor activities challenging.
Drivers are encouraged to monitor road conditions, especially along major routes like Interstate 89 and U.S. Route 2. Vermont residents should secure outdoor items against high winds and plan for possible delays caused by icy conditions. For the latest weather updates, visit the National Weather Service website.
