Burlington, VT – Travelers across Vermont should prepare for slippery roads and possible delays on I-89 this weekend as rain transitions to snow. Conditions will worsen at higher elevations, with accumulating snow expected above 1,000 feet by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will move through the region Friday night, mixing with snow early Saturday morning. Low temperatures will hover around 35°F overnight, with winds reaching 15 mph. Residents should use caution traveling through mountain passes, as slick roads and limited visibility are expected.

By Saturday, areas such as Mount Mansfield and Stowe could see snow accumulation of up to two inches. Lighter snowfall is forecast for the Champlain Valley, with temperatures peaking at 44°F. Sunday will bring scattered rain and snow showers before skies clear Sunday night.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will stay chilly, with daytime highs in the mid-40s. A mix of rain and snow is possible Monday night, adding to potentially hazardous road conditions. Dry weather is expected midweek, providing relief before Thanksgiving.

Those traveling this weekend are urged to check road conditions and allow extra time for their trips. For detailed updates and graphics, visit www.weather.gov/btv/winter.
