Burlington, VT – A midweek storm system will bring rain to Vermont on Wednesday before colder temperatures and snow showers arrive by Friday. Drivers should prepare for slick conditions, particularly on highways like I-89, as temperatures drop later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will move into the area by late Wednesday morning, with gusty winds reaching up to 30 mph. Showers will continue into Wednesday night before tapering off early Thursday. While Thursday will remain cloudy with scattered showers, the real concern arrives Friday as temperatures plummet, bringing a chance of snow showers and breezy conditions.

By Friday, highs will struggle to reach the mid-30s, and west winds could gust up to 31 mph, making it feel even colder. Snow showers will develop Friday night, with a 30% chance of accumulation. Travelers should be cautious, especially in higher elevations where roads may become slick.

Looking ahead, Saturday is expected to be partly sunny with highs in the upper 30s, followed by another chance of snow showers on Sunday. Temperatures will stay in the 30s through early next week, keeping a winter-like feel despite the arrival of meteorological spring.

Vermonters should prepare for fluctuating conditions and check for travel updates, especially as snow returns Friday night.
