Burlington, VT – Gusty west-to-northwest winds are expected to persist across Vermont and northern New York throughout Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures and the potential for scattered power outages, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Burlington.
Forecasters say the strongest gusts, reaching up to 40 mph, will occur along the downslope regions of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains. Winds will remain steady through the afternoon before easing slightly in the evening.
Temperatures will be seasonably cool, rising only a few degrees during the day, with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s across most of the region. The NWS notes that while widespread damage is not expected, isolated outages or tree limb damage could occur in exposed and elevated areas.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items and use caution when driving high-profile vehicles. Cooler and calmer weather is expected to return midweek as winds diminish and high pressure builds back into the area.
