Burlington, Vermont – Heavy rain will sweep across Vermont on Saturday, with Burlington expecting downpours by morning and the potential for minor flooding on roads and low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, the rain will begin early Saturday and continue into the evening, with precipitation chances hitting 100%. Winds could gust up to 15 mph from the north, adding to travel concerns. Rainfall totals between a half and one inch are possible, especially in Chittenden County and surrounding areas.

Scattered showers may start late Friday night after 2 a.m., with a 60% chance of rain continuing into Saturday night. Road conditions could deteriorate, especially along Route 7 and Interstate 89. Residents should avoid low-lying routes during periods of heavy rain and check for updates on local flooding advisories.

Rain will taper off Saturday night into early Sunday, bringing cooler temperatures in the low 60s. Sunday is expected to be partly sunny but breezy, with gusts up to 20 mph. The unsettled weather will give way to clearer skies by Monday.

More advisories may be issued as the system develops—residents should stay alert through Saturday evening.
