Burlington, Vt. – Umbrellas aren’t getting a break in Burlington this weekend as the region braces for its 24th consecutive weekend with measurable precipitation.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, showers are expected again by Saturday, extending a streak that began on December 21, 2024. While some weekends saw only a trace of rain, others—like May 17–18—drenched the area with more than 1.8 inches.

The persistent weekend pattern has impacted much of Vermont and northern New York, complicating outdoor plans and muddying trails across counties like Chittenden, Franklin, and Clinton. Wet roads and limited drying time have raised concerns for local infrastructure and backyard flooding.

Residents in Burlington, Montpelier, and Plattsburgh are urged to monitor storm drains and limit non-essential travel during heavier showers. If grilling or camping plans are on the table, local officials suggest waterproof gear and backup indoor options.

This weekend’s rainfall is expected to be moderate, but forecasters warn that saturated ground increases runoff risk even with lower totals.

More details on timing and rainfall amounts will be released in a forthcoming advisory, but the outlook remains soggy: weekend showers are likely to persist into early June.

Stay weather-aware—alerts may follow if rainfall intensifies.
