Burlington, Vermont – Spring won’t stay quiet in Vermont this weekend as rain and gusty winds return to Burlington starting Thursday afternoon, threatening travel and outdoor plans across Chittenden County.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, showers will likely begin after 1 p.m. Thursday, intensifying into the evening with southeast winds reaching up to 28 mph. Friday’s high will climb to around 74°F, but the combination of wind and rain could lead to slick conditions along I-89 and local roadways.

By Saturday, light rain continues through early afternoon, tapering off late with cooler highs near 61°F and shifting northwest winds around 7 mph. The chance of precipitation remains at 60%, with most areas expecting up to a quarter inch of rain through Saturday.

Sunday offers a brief break, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s—ideal for those making up postponed plans. However, Monday and Tuesday bring another round of rain chances, especially Monday night into Tuesday with a 40% probability.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously Friday evening and Saturday morning as winds and wet pavement may reduce visibility. Residents planning outdoor activities should prepare for rapidly changing conditions through the weekend.
