Burlington, VT – Morning temperatures across Vermont have plummeted below freezing, creating icy conditions on many roadways, especially outside the Champlain Valley. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving as icy patches may not be immediately visible.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are hovering around 28 to 32 degrees as of this morning. Despite clear skies and a high near 33 degrees expected today, the frigid start has led to potential hazards on roads and sidewalks. Commuters are advised to leave extra time for travel and ensure their vehicles are properly winterized.
Looking ahead, the weather will bring more challenges. Friday will see a 50% chance of snow showers in the afternoon, with accumulations between one and two inches possible by Friday night. The high will reach only 28 degrees, with even colder temperatures—down to 18 degrees—expected overnight.
Saturday offers a brief respite with partly sunny skies and a high near 21 degrees, though winds from the northwest at 14 to 15 mph will make it feel even colder. By Sunday, temperatures remain frigid, with a high near 14 degrees before dipping to just 2 degrees at night.
For those planning holiday travel or outdoor activities, prepare for icy conditions to persist into next week. Bundle up and stay informed on evolving weather updates.
