Burlington, VT – Heavy rainfall is expected today across Vermont, with predictions calling for 0.50 to 1.5 inches of rain by 8 p.m. The National Weather Service advises drivers to exercise caution, especially on I-89 and other major roads, as wet conditions and localized flooding may occur. Residents of Burlington, Highgate, and Rutland could see the heaviest accumulation, with as much as 1.78 inches of rain in Rutland.

According to the National Weather Service, additional downpours could make travel hazardous through early Friday. High winds and ponding on roads may cause delays, especially during peak commuting hours. Anyone traveling today should check local traffic reports before heading out and be cautious on highways, including I-89 and US-7.

As the week continues, Burlington and surrounding areas will see more stable weather by Friday, with clearer skies and temperatures in the mid-60s. However, another wave of showers is forecast for the weekend. Be prepared for changing conditions, particularly if you’re planning outdoor activities or travel.
