Burlington, Vermont – Drivers in northern Vermont should plan for a soggy commute Tuesday morning as an 80% chance of rain targets Burlington and surrounding areas. Showers are expected to arrive by 7 a.m., bringing potentially slick conditions to roadways including I-89, Route 2, and local roads near the University of Vermont campus.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, rainfall will begin early Tuesday and continue through the midday hours, with new precipitation amounts between a quarter and half an inch possible. Southeast winds will strengthen to 10–13 mph, adding to the discomfort for pedestrians and cyclists.

While Tuesday evening will see clearing skies, more unsettled weather returns Wednesday night with another 30% chance of showers. After that, Vermont’s Champlain Valley shifts toward a brighter stretch. Sunshine dominates Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures climbing to a seasonably warm 79°F by midweek.

Friday and Saturday continue the summer theme, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 72°F. Gusty winds up to 20 mph Thursday may cause minor travel disruptions for cyclists or drivers in open areas.
