Burlington, VT — Warm, sunny weather persists in Vermont today, but changes are coming as breezy conditions and rain showers are expected to hit the Champlain Valley by Wednesday night. Today’s high will reach the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies, but southerly winds will strengthen overnight, with gusts up to 25 mph after midnight.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will bring similar warm temperatures, but winds will increase throughout the day, with gusts as high as 32 mph in the afternoon. Showers are likely to develop by Wednesday night, with rain starting after 8 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 60%, and winds will remain gusty, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions on open roads such as Route 7 and in higher terrain areas.

The rain will clear out after midnight, but Thursday will see cooler, partly sunny skies with highs in the low 60s. Winds will still gust up to 24 mph, making for a breezy day, though calmer than Wednesday. By Friday, the weather will turn even cooler, with highs only in the upper 50s and mostly sunny skies.
