Burlington, VT – A winter storm is bringing snow and freezing rain to Vermont, creating hazardous road conditions and travel disruptions through Thursday night. Drivers should expect slippery roads, particularly during the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 10 PM Thursday for all of Vermont and parts of northern New York. Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with a light glaze of ice. The storm will begin as snow Thursday morning before transitioning to a mix of freezing rain and drizzle in the afternoon.

High temperatures will reach 33°F Thursday, but wind chills will make it feel much colder. Winds from the south at 9-15 mph will create low visibility in snow-covered areas.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring partly sunny skies with a high near 28°F, improving travel conditions. However, another round of snow is expected Saturday night into Sunday, with additional accumulations possible.

Drivers should use caution on untreated roads and allow extra time for travel. The National Weather Service advises checking 511 road conditions and using winter safety measures when traveling.
