Burlington, VT – A powerful winter storm is set to impact Vermont through the weekend, bringing snow, a wintry mix, and strong winds. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and rapidly changing weather.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), light snow is expected to continue overnight before transitioning to a mix of sleet, freezing rain, and snow on Thursday morning. Highs will reach the mid-30s, but icy roads could create dangerous driving conditions, especially during the morning and evening commutes.

By Friday, temperatures will drop into the low 20s, with mostly sunny skies offering a brief break before another winter storm arrives Saturday night. Snow accumulation could be significant, with a 90% chance of precipitation through Sunday.

Drivers should use caution, especially on major routes like I-89 and I-91, where icy conditions could develop. Power outages are possible due to ice buildup and gusty winds.

Looking ahead, temperatures remain cold into early next week, with more snow possible by Monday. Residents should stay updated with the latest forecasts and prepare for potential disruptions.
