Wichita, KS – Couples planning outdoor Valentine’s Day activities should prepare for gusty winds and a chance of rain as a cold front moves through.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Friday’s high will reach 44°F, but strong winds from the south could gust up to 46 mph by the afternoon. Clouds will increase throughout the day, and a slight chance of showers will develop late at night. Overnight temperatures will drop to 32°F, leading into a much colder weekend.
By Saturday, rain may transition to snow as temperatures fall, with a chance of slick roads in the morning. Winds will shift, becoming blustery from the northwest, making outdoor plans uncomfortable. Sunday morning will bring even colder conditions, with wind chills potentially dropping below zero as arctic air settles in.
Looking ahead, another winter storm could impact the area early next week, bringing more snow and dangerously cold temperatures. Residents should prepare for changing conditions and check forecasts frequently.
If you have dinner or travel plans, be sure to dress warmly and allow extra time for potential delays.
