Chicago, IL – A winter storm is set to impact Illinois this weekend, bringing snow, freezing temperatures, and hazardous road conditions. With wind chills possibly reaching -20°F by Sunday, residents should prepare for dangerously cold weather.

According to the National Weather Service, a chance of snow will begin Friday afternoon, increasing into the evening. Accumulations could impact travel, particularly along I-94 and I-90. Saturday brings a mix of snow and freezing rain, with a high near 35°F. Snow continues Saturday night before tapering off Sunday morning.

By Sunday, bitter cold sets in, with highs only reaching the low 20s. Monday morning wind chills could drop as low as -20°F. Anyone traveling should check road conditions and dress in layers to prevent frostbite.

The five-day forecast shows continued cold temperatures into early next week, with another chance of snow on Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be partly sunny, but highs will remain below freezing.

Drivers should allow extra time for commutes and stay updated on changing conditions. The Illinois Department of Transportation urges caution on bridges and overpasses, which freeze first.

Stay tuned for updates as the storm develops.
