Salt Lake City, UT – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across Utah’s mountain regions as heavy snowfall continues through Tuesday morning, impacting travel conditions statewide.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, snowfall is expected to persist until 11 a.m. MST on Tuesday across the Wasatch Mountains, Western Uinta Mountains, Wasatch Plateau/Book Cliffs, and Central Mountains. These areas could see additional accumulations of up to 6 inches, with the Manti Skyline and Pahvant Mountains receiving up to 10 inches.
In Southern Utah, the advisory is in place until 5 a.m. MST Tuesday, with the Southern Mountains, including Brian Head and Alton, forecasted to receive 2 to 6 inches of additional snow.
The storm is expected to create hazardous road conditions, particularly in mountain passes. Utah Department of Transportation officials warn that traction laws may be enforced, requiring drivers to use chains or four-wheel drive on certain roadways. Motorists are urged to check UDOT’s traffic updates before traveling.
