Salt Lake City, UT – Utah’s Wasatch and Uinta mountains are preparing for significant snowfall this weekend, with totals reaching up to 18 inches in some areas.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from noon Saturday until 3 p.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service forecasts 6 to 12 inches of snow in most locations, with heavier accumulations likely in the Ogden-area mountains and Bear River Range. Snowfall will begin Saturday morning, ease briefly in the afternoon, and intensify overnight. The heaviest snow is expected between midnight and 5 a.m. Sunday.

Drivers should prepare for hazardous conditions, including reduced visibility and slick roads. The Utah Department of Transportation urges travelers to check conditions at UDOT Traffic before heading out. Slowing down and using extra caution will be essential for safe travel.

Officials recommend avoiding unnecessary travel during peak snow hours. Stay updated on storm conditions, including snowfall projections, by visiting weather.gov/slc/winter.
