Salt Lake City, UT – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of Utah today, with snow accumulation expected in several mountain regions and parts of Wyoming.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is forecast to continue throughout the day, impacting the Wasatch Mountains, Western Uinta Mountains, and surrounding areas. Snow accumulations could reach up to 8 inches in some of the higher elevations, with more modest totals expected at lower levels. The advisory is set to remain in effect until 8 PM MDT this evening.
Travelers are advised to be cautious, particularly in mountainous regions such as Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, where winter driving conditions will be hazardous. Snowfall is also impacting parts of Wyoming, including Lyman and Evanston, with additional snow accumulation of up to 4 inches. The advisory for these areas will end at 6 PM MDT today.
In Utah’s Sanpete Valley, additional snow is expected through noon today, with accumulations up to 3 inches. Commuters should plan for potential disruptions, particularly along US-89 and SR-132.
As conditions are expected to be dangerous, drivers should check road conditions through local transportation websites and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected areas.
