Salt Lake City, Utah – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for northern Utah, as strong easterly downsloping winds are expected to intensify through the evening. Gusts of up to 50 mph could make travel dangerous along certain routes in the region, particularly in areas such as Farmington, Centerville, and the Northern Cache Valley.

According to the NWS, the advisory will remain in effect from 6 p.m. tonight through 4 a.m. Wednesday, with winds likely peaking between 6 p.m. and 4 a.m. The most affected areas include the northern Wasatch Front and the Cache Valley. Travelers on high-elevation routes like I-15, US-89, and US-91 may face hazardous crosswinds, and loose objects may pose an additional risk on the roads.

As the wind threat grows throughout the afternoon, gusts could also reach 30 to 40 mph in other highlighted regions, though the northern Wasatch and Cache Valleys will experience the strongest gusts. The winds are expected to gradually decrease early Wednesday morning.

Motorists should secure loose objects and avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind hours. Further updates may follow if conditions worsen.
