Salt Lake City, Utah – Warm, gusty winds will give way to widespread rain across Utah late Saturday, with soggy conditions and high-elevation snow likely persisting through Sunday. Valley areas can expect highs in the 80s Saturday before temperatures dip closer to seasonal norms by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, southwesterly winds gusting 20 to 30 mph will push into the region Saturday afternoon, bringing increasing cloud cover and late-day showers. Rain will intensify overnight, spreading statewide by Sunday morning. Total precipitation will range from 0.10 to 0.50 inches across northern and central Utah, with higher totals in the Wasatch and Uinta ranges.
Mountain zones above 9000 feet—including parts of the Wasatch Back and Uinta Mountains—could see accumulating snow. Backcountry travelers should prepare for winter-like conditions, including slippery trails and limited visibility.
Valley residents, especially in Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo, should expect widespread rain showers and cooler temperatures Sunday. Those heading outdoors should bring rain gear and avoid flood-prone areas, as localized ponding is possible.
Rain will taper off Sunday evening, but additional advisories may be issued if conditions worsen. Stay tuned to NWS updates through the weekend.
