Salt Lake City, UT – Rain returns to northern Utah on Sunday morning, followed by snow and colder conditions through midweek, bringing potential hazards to drivers along I-15 and I-80.

According to the National Weather Service, light showers begin before 3 a.m. Sunday in Salt Lake City, increasing in intensity by the afternoon. Highs will reach near 61°F, but a shift to colder air Monday night will bring a wintry mix and eventual snow. The most persistent snow is forecast for Tuesday through Wednesday morning, with accumulation expected on roadways and reduced visibility for commuters.

Monday brings a high chance of rain throughout the day, with snow developing overnight as temperatures dip to 36°F. Tuesday and Wednesday will see snow showers, with a total accumulation of 1–2 inches likely in valley areas and more at higher elevations. Wind gusts could reach up to 10 mph, creating slick conditions and scattered delays, especially on mountain routes and major highways including I-215 and SR-201.

Travelers and residents are advised to use caution during the morning and evening commutes, especially during Monday night into Tuesday. Snowfall could be locally heavy at times.

Looking ahead, Thursday offers a break with partly sunny skies and a high of 51°F, before another chance of rain or snow returns Friday.
