Salt Lake City, Utah – A prolonged stretch of summer-like heat is baking northern Utah this week, with daily highs in Salt Lake City expected to reach 96°F through at least Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, the region will see clear skies and unrelenting sunshine from Monday through the weekend, with overnight lows offering little relief—remaining in the mid to upper 60s. Light winds from the northwest will persist most afternoons, though calm conditions dominate overnight hours.
Salt Lake City residents can expect 90s to peak during the late afternoon, with Monday’s high reaching 91°F and increasing to 96°F by Wednesday. Nearby cities including West Valley, Taylorsville, and Sandy will also bake under the heat dome. No rain is forecast, and humidity remains low.
Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours (2–6 p.m.), and check on vulnerable neighbors or pets. With power grids under strain, reducing electricity use during the hottest parts of the day is also recommended.
The heat is expected to last through at least Sunday. No advisories have been issued yet, but updates may follow if temperatures climb closer to 100°F later this week.
