Salt Lake City, Utah – High temperatures across northern Utah are on the rise, and Salt Lake City is in for a prolonged blast of summer heat through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday, July 6 will see sunny skies and a high near 92°F. Winds will stay light, shifting from calm in the morning to northwest at 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Monday will be hotter, with temperatures climbing to 96°F under sunny conditions. By Tuesday, highs could reach 99°F — the warmest of the week — prompting safety concerns for outdoor activity and travel.

Residents should avoid prolonged exposure to midday heat, especially along heavily trafficked routes like I-15 through Salt Lake City, where heat can radiate from pavement. Stay hydrated, check on vulnerable neighbors, and limit strenuous tasks to early morning or evening hours.

Nighttime relief will be minimal, with lows only dipping to the upper 60s. Dry conditions persist, with no rain expected through Thursday. Fire risk remains elevated in surrounding foothills and canyons.

Looking ahead, here’s the extended five-day forecast for Salt Lake City:

  • Sunday: Sunny, high near 92°F. Light winds becoming northwest 5–7 mph.
  • Monday: Sunny, high near 96°F. Low around 69°F.
  • Tuesday: Clear and extremely hot, high near 99°F. Low 71°F.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, cooler, high near 93°F. Overnight low around 68°F.
  • Thursday: Sunny, high near 93°F. Mostly clear Thursday night, low near 65°F.

More heat advisories could be issued if triple-digit highs extend into next weekend.
