Los Angeles, CA – An air quality alert has been issued for the Los Angeles area due to increased levels of particle pollution from windblown dust and ash. Officials warn that vulnerable groups, including children, seniors, and individuals with respiratory issues, should limit outdoor exposure through Thursday afternoon.
According to the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the alert covers broad sections of Los Angeles County, including Santa Clarita, Hollywood, and Long Beach. The advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. Thursday, with hazardous levels of airborne particles from dust and ash.
Today’s forecast also includes a red flag warning, signaling heightened wildfire risks due to dry conditions and moderate winds. This combination of wildfire risk and poor air quality creates a severe health hazard for residents.
Officials recommend keeping windows and doors closed and using air purifiers if possible. They urge those sensitive to air pollution to avoid strenuous outdoor activities and seek shelter indoors. For more information, residents can contact the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
