Albany, NY – Lake-effect rain and snow showers will continue across parts of eastern New York and western New England into Friday, bringing pockets of light accumulation to higher terrain. Most areas will see little to no impact, but the National Weather Service Albany office reports that some elevated locations in the eastern Catskills and southern Green Mountains could receive 1 to 2 inches of snow.

The latest snowfall map shows scattered light totals across central and northern New York, including near Old Forge, Utica, Gloversville, Binghamton, and the Tug Hill foothills. Similar lighter pockets appear across portions of Vermont and western Massachusetts, though widespread measurable snow is not expected.

Forecasters say these showers will remain isolated to scattered through Friday, driven by lingering cold air passing over the Great Lakes. Lower elevations, including the Albany metro, are likely to stay mostly rain or flurries with no accumulation.

While significant impacts are not expected, drivers in higher terrain should be cautious of periodic reduced visibility and lightly coated roadways during heavier bursts. Conditions are expected to improve gradually heading into the weekend.
