Pittsburgh, PA – Damaging winds are possible across northern Pennsylvania this afternoon as a stalled cold front triggers isolated severe thunderstorms along the Route 422 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Level 1 (Marginal) risk for severe weather is in place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, primarily impacting counties north of Pittsburgh, including Butler, Clarion, and Mercer. The storms could produce wind gusts strong enough to down tree limbs and disrupt power lines.
Local emergency managers urge residents in affected areas to monitor forecasts and enable weather alerts on mobile devices. Travel may be hazardous during the strongest storms, especially in open areas or near wooded roadways.
While confidence in widespread severe weather remains low, isolated storms could become briefly intense. The cold front is expected to linger over the Upper Ohio Valley into Monday evening, keeping the region unstable and moisture-rich.
Storm activity should diminish by late evening, though additional updates may be issued if conditions worsen.
